You can update your personal information—like your name, $ChimeSign, profile photo, contact details, and address—directly in the Chime app.
Update your name
You can update your preferred or legal name in the Chime app. You may be asked to verify your identity with a valid, government-issued photo ID.
Update your preferred name
Updating your preferred name does not change the legal name on your account.
To update your preferred name in the Chime app:
Tap Profile > Personal info.
Tap the pencil icon next to your name.
Tap the pencil icon next to Preferred name.
Enter your preferred name and tap Save.
On Chime.com
Click Profile > Personal info.
Click Edit next to your name.
Add or update your Preferred Name.
Click Save.
Update your legal name
You can update your legal name only if you’ve legally changed it.
To update your legal name in the Chime app:
Tap Profile > Personal info.
Tap the pencil icon next to your name.
Tap the pencil icon next to Legal name.
Confirm that your new legal name matches your ID.
Type your new legal name and tap Submit.
If we can’t approve you automatically, please contact us.
Chime doesn’t support adding or modifying a middle name.
Update your SSN and/or date of birth
Update your $ChimeSign
Your $ChimeSign is a unique handle that other Chime members can use to find you when sending money with Pay Anyone.
To update your $ChimeSign:
Go to Profile > Personal info.
Tap the pencil icon next to your $ChimeSign.
Enter your new $ChimeSign and tap Save.
You can change your $ChimeSign up to three times.
To hide your $ChimeSign, adjust your settings in Privacy.
Upload, replace, or delete your profile photo
To manage your profile photo:
Go to Profile > Personal info.
Tap the camera icon.
Choose to upload, replace, or delete your photo.
Photo visibility
Your profile photo is visible to other Chime members, except those you’ve blocked.
Upload issues
If your photo upload is rejected, it may not meet Chime’s content standards. Try uploading a different image.
Update your address
You can update your home address in the Chime app.
Your home address must be a valid residential address (not a P.O. box) and registered with the U.S. Postal Service.
Your shipping address can be a P.O. box. If you need to update your shipping address, contact us.
To update your home address:
Go to Profile > Personal info.
Tap the pencil icon next to your address.
Enter your new address and tap Next.
You may be asked to verify your identity when updating your address. This can include:
Providing a valid, government-issued photo ID
Confirming account details
Once submitted, your information will be reviewed before the update is completed. Processing times may vary.
If your address isn’t accepted
Make sure your address matches U.S. Post Office (USPS) records
Enter your unit or apartment number in the correct field
Use the format shown in Google Maps
Confirm the address is not a business or P.O. box (for home address)
If you’re unable to update your address, contact us.
Update your email address
To update your email:
Go to Profile > Personal info.
Tap the pencil icon next to your email.
Enter your new email and tap Continue.
You may need to verify your identity.
If you don’t have access to your email
If you know your password: Log in and follow the steps above.
If you don’t know your password, contact us.
If you forgot your email
On the Chime app: Tap Need help? > I forgot my email address
On chime.com: Use the Forgot email address page
You’ll receive a text with your email address.
Update your phone number
To update your phone number:
Go to Profile > Personal info.
Tap the pencil icon next to your phone number.
Enter your new number and tap Next.
You may need to verify your identity.
If you don’t have access to your old phone number
Follow the steps above. If you can’t complete verification, contact us.
