How do I deposit a check?

If you’re eligible for Mobile Check Deposit, you can deposit a check in your Chime app with these steps:

  1. Tap Move.
  2. Tap Deposit a Check.
  3. Choose the type of check you want to deposit and follow the steps.

Tips for good check photos

  • Place the check on a clean, dark surface without any other items visible.

  • Use good lighting.

  • Make sure all four corners of the check are visible in both photos.

  • Make sure your camera is properly focused.

  • Smooth out any wrinkles or creases in the check.

Additional tips for depositing checks

  • Checks with textured or patterned backgrounds may fail to deposit.

  • Both payees must endorse joint checks.

  • Always endorse your checks in ink.

  • You can only deposit a check if it's made out to you, meaning your name is on the "Pay to the order of" line.

  • Chime can’t accept checks that you issue to yourself. If you want to move money from another account to your Chime account, you can make a transfer instead.

  • Chime may ask for Restrictive Endorsements (writing “For mobile deposit to Chime account only”) on some checks. If this happens, follow the instructions provided in the app.
