You can close your Chime Checking Account in the Chime mobile app.
- Go to Profile.
- Tap Personal info.
- Tap Close Account and follow the steps.
You can also call us at (844) 244-6363 to close any of your accounts, whether it is a Checking Account, or Savings Account.
What happens after you close your account
We’ll process your closure request within five business days. After that, you’ll no longer have access to your account, so be sure to download any tax documents or statements under Profile > Documents before closing.
If there’s money in your account
We recommend transferring any remaining funds to an external bank account. Visit How can I transfer money from my Chime Checking Account to another bank? to learn how.
If you can’t transfer the money before closing your account, we’ll process a refund check within 14 days of account closure to be subsequently mailed to your address on file. If the 14th day falls on a weekend or holiday, we’ll process the check the next business day.
It may take up to 30 days from the closure date to receive it. Make sure your address is current in the app under Profile > Personal Info.

If your account has a negative balance
