How do I activate my card?

Tips when activating your card: 

  • When to activate: You will be able to activate your physical Chime card directly in the app once it has been delivered. 

  • Avoid getting locked out: Make sure you have your physical card with you during activation so you have all the required information on hand.

    • Please note that after five (5) failed attempts, the new card will be locked and you will not be able to activate it.

    • If this happens, you can contact us to activate your card. Read How do I contact Chime customer service?

Activate from the home screen

  1. Locate the Your card has been delivered widget on the home screen.

  2. Tap Activate.

  3. Enter your card’s CVV (the three-digit number on the back of your card).

  4. Set and confirm your PIN.

    1. Note: If you set a PIN for your virtual card, that same PIN will apply to your physical card. You won’t need to set it again.

If you don't see the home screen widget

  1. Go to Profile.

  2. Tap Cards.

  3. Access the card you want to activate:

    1. Debit card: Checking

    2. Credit Builder: Credit Builder

  4. Tap Activate new card under View your card.

  5. Enter your card’s CVV.

  6. Set and confirm your PIN.

    1. Note: If you set a PIN for your virtual card, that same PIN will apply to your physical card. You won’t need to set it again.

Activate at chime.com

  1. Log in at chime.com.

  2. Click Activate physical card

If you’re having trouble activating your card, tap the question mark icon on the home screen to visit the Support Center. From there, tap Chat and ask ChimeBot for help. 

If the app shows an error message, try closing and reopening it after a few minutes.You can also call (844) 244-6363 and follow the prompts to activate your card by phone.
