How do I add fingerprint capabilities for Android?
In order to use the Chime fingerprint feature instead of entering your pin code, you must first make sure that the following setup items are completed:
- The camera in your phone must be able to support scanning fingerprints. If the camera's sensor is not available you will have no ability to use fingerprints.
- Your phone's operating system must be at least Android 6.0. To see what your phone's operating system is:
- Go to settings on your phone.
- Find the section “About phone”. This may be different on different Android phones and operating systems.
- Find “Android version”
If your phone is not on at least Android 6.0, then try using “System Update” or contact your phone's provider for how to update your phone.
- Your screen lock must be set and must be a secure lock. Only Pattern, PIN, and Password are considered secure locks. Swipe is considered an unsecured lock. To set your screen lock:

How can I use fingerprints?
Fingerprint capabilities are now available in Chime 3.3. Fingerprint can be used instead of the pin code for restarting or re-entering Chime.
If you have setup fingerprint capabilities and your device support fingerprints, then fingerprint will automatically appear instead of the pin code re-enter screen. If you do not have the Android fingerprint feature setup, then a dialog will appear with the option to go to the Android settings screen.
