Transfers to Chime members are instant* and irreversible.
If the phone number or email you entered is connected to a Chime account, the money is sent instantly and can’t be reversed — even if the recipient forgot they had a Chime account.
Before you send a payment, make sure to double-check the details, as our Member Services team can’t cancel or reverse these transfers.
You can also send a small amount first to confirm it’s the right person.
Always confirm your recipient’s $ChimeSign, phone number, or email before hitting send.
If the person you sent it to is not a Chime member, they’ll receive a text or email to claim the payment. You’ll have a 14-day window where:
- If they don’t claim the funds, the money is automatically returned to your Chime Checking Account.
- You can also cancel the payment directly in your app as long as it hasn’t been claimed.
If you accidentally send money to the wrong person or for the wrong amount, we suggest requesting the money back. For more details, visit Can I file a dispute for a Pay Anyone transfer?
Check your Deposit Account Agreement for details.
*Funds are automatically debited from your Checking Account and typically deposited into the recipient’s Checking Account within seconds. Pay Anyone transactions will be monitored and may be held, delayed or blocked if the transfer could result in fraud or another form of financial harm. Sometimes instant transfers can be delayed.
