What is Experian Boost® and what bills qualify?

Experian Boost®* lets you potentially improve your FICO® Score** by reporting on-time bill payments if your Chime account is connected to Experian.

Here are the kinds of bills that may qualify:
  • Gas, electricity, and water
  • Phone bills
  • Internet service
  • Trash collection
  • Streaming services like Netflix, Hulu, and Disney+
You may see a score boost just by paying these bills on time. It’s free and won’t hurt your credit.

How Experian Boost® works with your Chime Account

Once your Chime account is linked to Experian, here’s what happens:
  1. Experian scans your transaction history for payments made to qualifying merchants.
  2. It checks for three on-time payments to the same merchant within a 6-month window.
  3. Those payments are added to your credit profile, which could help improve your FICO® Score.
Note: When you use Experian Boost, your account information is protected with world-class encryption. Experian only has read-only access to your account and cannot make any changes to it.

*Results will vary. Not all payments are boost-eligible. Some users may not receive an improved score or approval odds. Not all lenders use Experian credit files, and not all lenders use scores impacted by Experian Boost®. Learn more.
