Refer a friend to Chime

Chime's Standard Referral Program rewards you for inviting friends to join. When a friend signs up with your referral link and meets the requirements, both of you earn a bonus. Chime also runs limited-time referral promotions from time to time – you'll hear about those by email or through an in-app notification.


Invite a friend

There are two ways to send a referral: through your contacts or by sharing your unique link.


Invite from your contacts

  1. Open the Chime app and tap Profile > under Refer a friend, tap Invite friends.

  2. Choose friends from your contacts.

  3. Tap the Get [amount] button to send the invite.

  4. When the invitation confirmation appears, tap Got it.


Share your referral link

  1. Open the Chime app and tap Profile > under Refer a friend, tap Invite friends > Share your link to copy your unique referral link.

  2. Paste or share the link on social media, in a text, or in an email.


Note: Your referral link is unique to you. Referral bonuses only apply to accounts opened through your link. Your friend must also complete the qualifying requirements, such as any required direct deposits, before either bonus is paid.

To see how many friends you have successfully referred and the bonus status for each, go to Profile > Invite friends in the Chime app. Your referral progress tracker shows the current status and bonus amount for every person you have invited.


How to qualify

For both you and your friend to earn a bonus, three things need to happen:

  1. Your friend signs up for a Chime Checking Account using your referral link.

  2. They receive a single qualifying direct deposit of $200 or more within 45 days of opening their account.

  3. They activate their physical card within 14 calendar days of receiving that qualifying direct deposit.


Once all three steps are complete, your friend receives $100 and you earn a bonus. Your bonus amount may vary based on your active offer when your friend signs up.

How your bonus amount is determined

Your referral bonus amount can vary based on factors like how long you have been a Chime member, how you use Chime features, and the time of year. The bonus amount you receive for each referred friend is determined at the moment they enroll – not when you send the invite or when you receive the payment.

This means different friends you refer to may have different bonus amounts associated with them, depending on when they signed up.

Annual limit: You can earn referral rewards for up to 10 successful referrals per calendar year. Once you reach that limit, additional referrals in the same year will not generate a bonus for you.
