A pending transaction is a payment that’s in progress — the amount has already been set aside from your Checking account balance, but has not been fully transferred to the merchant yet.
This is a normal part of how payments work and typically clears in a few days.
Sometimes, the pending amount might look different from the final charge. That’s because some merchants place a temporary hold to check if your account can cover the cost. This hold may be higher or lower than the actual amount.
For example, at restaurants, the pending charge might not include the tip. Once the tip is added and the payment is finalized, the final amount will reflect that total.
You don’t need to take any action — the transaction will update automatically once the merchant processes it.
