How does splitting my direct deposit work?

You can divide your direct deposit between your Credit Builder, Checking, and Savings Accounts. You set the percentages for each account and Chime moves your money automatically when it’s deposited—no manual transfers required!

This helps you stay in control of your money, making saving and budgeting simpler. There’s no minimum direct deposit amount, so you can allocate money whether your deposit is large or small.

You can update your direct deposit settings in the Chime app by going to Profile > Account details > Split your pay.

How does splitting my pay work?

  • Customizable splits: Choose what percentage of your direct deposit goes to each account—Credit Builder Account, Checking Account, or Savings Account.
  • Automatic transfers: Your money is moved automatically based on the percentages you set.
  • Flexible updates: Adjust your settings any time in the Chime app.

How is my money split if I’m enrolled in Chime Card?
If you’re enrolled in Chime Card, you can choose to set aside a percentage or a fixed amount of your money in your Savings Account, including Savings Goals.

Any money you don’t set aside for savings will be automatically moved from your Checking Account to your Secured Deposit Account (SDA).

What if I have outstanding balances with Chime?

If you have outstanding balances from SpotMe, Instant Loans, or MyPay, those amounts will be repaid first. The remaining funds from your direct deposit will then be split based on your allocations.

For example, a SpotMe repayment of $20 will come out of the direct deposit before the money is split between your accounts.

Repayments are processed in this order:

  1. SpotMe balances
  2. Instant Loan payments
  3. MyPay repayments

This makes sure your outstanding balances are repaid before your funds are divided into your accounts.
