How do I send or request money with Pay Anyone?

You can send money to anyone, whether they are a Chime member or not. You can only request money from other Chime members.

To request or pay money with Pay Anyone in your Chime app:

  1. On the Home screen, tap Pay.
  2. Tap either Request or Pay.
  3. Find your friend by entering their name, $ChimeSign, email address, or phone number.

    • Note: You can only request money from other Chime members
  4. Enter the amount you'd like to send or request.
    • Make sure you have enough money in your Checking Account.
      • If you don’t, you might see an option to use a linked external debit card.
      • You can also transfer funds from your Savings Account before trying again.
  5. Add a message if you want.
  6. Tap Pay or Request.

If you send money to someone who isn’t a Chime member, they’ll get a link by text or email (based on how you sent it) to claim the payment using a U.S. issued debit card or by joining Chime. If they don’t claim it within 14 days, the money will be returned to your Chime Checking Account.

If another Chime member sends you money or a payment request, you’ll be notified by email and push notification

Unclaimed payments to non-members can be canceled in the app, but payments to other Chime members are instant* and irreversible. For more information, read How do I accept a Pay Anyone transfer if I’m not a Chime member?

*Funds are automatically debited from your Checking Account and typically deposited into the recipient’s Checking Account within seconds. Pay Anyone transactions will be monitored and may be held, delayed or blocked if the transfer could result in fraud or another form of financial harm. Sometimes instant transfers can be delayed.
