Send money from Chime to an external debit card
Tap Move > Transfer Money.
Select your Chime Checking Account under From and your external debit card under To.
Enter the amount and review the details.
Tap Send to complete the transfer.
If your Chime account does not have enough money to cover the transfer, it will fail. Add money through direct deposit or another method before trying again.
Receive money from an external debit card into Chime
Tap Move > Transfer Money.
Select your external debit card under From and your Chime Checking Account under To.
Enter the amount and confirm.
If your external account does not have enough money for the full amount, you may see a partial authorization message showing the available balance. You can choose to transfer that amount or enter a different one. The minimum amount for an inbound instant transfer is $5.
Verification codes
Some instant transfers trigger an extra security step. Chime will send a one-time six-digit code to your phone by text message. Enter the code to complete the transfer.
If you don’t receive the code:
Tap Get new code to request another.
Tap Update phone number under Need help? if you no longer have access to the phone number on file.
Check that Chime is allowed to send text notifications in your phone settings.
If you have not opted in to SMS from Chime, text START to 24463 and make sure 24463 is not blocked on your device.
Contact your carrier to confirm your plan supports messages from six-digit short codes.
If you enter an incorrect verification code five times, you'll need to wait one hour before trying again. If you still can't complete verification, call Chime support at (844) 244-6363.
If a transfer fails
Common reasons an external debit card transfer might fail:
Name or address mismatch between the external debit card and your Chime account
Incorrect card details entered during linking
Ineligible card type (see Link and unlink external accounts and debit cards with Chime) for supported networks
Transfer limit reached (see Profile > Account details)
If a transfer keeps failing with a debit card, try linking an external bank account and using ACH instead. ACH may offer more flexibility for larger amounts.
