Why Can’t I Make a Purchase with My Chime Savings Account?

Your Chime Savings Account is designed to help you save money, so you can’t use it directly for purchases with your Chime Card.

To use money from your Savings Account for purchases, transfer it to your Chime Checking Account or Chime Credit Builder Account first.

Important Note: If you have a negative balance in your Checking or Credit Builder Accounts before moving your money from your Savings account, your transfer will cover the negative balance first. The remaining amount will be available for spending.

How to Transfer Money from Savings

You can move money in two ways:

  • From the Savings screen:
  1. Tap Transfer Out.
  2. Move your funds from your Savings to Checking or Credit Builder.
  • From the Move Money tab:
  1. Select Transfer Funds
  2. Choose to move your money from your Savings to Checking or Credit Builder.

Once the money is in your Checking or Credit Builder account, you can use your Chime Card as usual.
