What are Pay Anyone Groups?

Pay Anyone Groups are a feature in the Chime app that make managing shared expenses simple and transparent. Whether it’s rent, groceries, or other shared costs, this tool helps you track expenses and ensure everyone contributes their share.

To start using Pay Anyone Groups, make sure you’re on app version 5.249.1 or later. Open the Pay tab in your Chime app, tap add Group to create a group, and begin adding expenses.

How Pay Anyone Groups work

Pay Anyone Groups let you create a private group where members can add and track shared expenses. The system automatically keeps track of who owes what, sends reminders, and provides full visibility into expenses and payments for all members. This ensures everyone stays informed without needing manual reminders!

Only Chime members can create or be a part of Pay Anyone Groups.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs):

1. How do I add an expense to a group?
To add an expense, select the group you want to add it to, then tap Add Expense at the bottom of the screen. Enter the amount, which will be split equally by default, but you can adjust each person’s share as needed. You can also add a due date if you’d like. Chime will track payments, send money requests, and display the expense in the group’s activity. Automatic reminders will be sent regularly to help everyone stay on track with payments.

2. Can I send payment reminders manually?
You can’t manually send reminders at this time. Chime will automatically send payment reminders at key intervals. If the expense isn’t paid, it will expire 60 days after the due date, or, if no due date was set, 60 days after it was added.

3. Can I add or remove members from a group?
Once a group is created, members cannot be added or removed. However, any member can choose to leave the group on their own.

4. Can I create multiple groups with the same name?
You cannot create two groups with the same name. However, you can join another group with the same name, as long as it was created by someone else.

5. How can I stop someone from inviting me to groups?
To prevent someone from inviting you to groups, you can block them in the app. Simply go to their profile, tap the three dots in the upper-right corner, and select Block. Once blocked, they won’t be able to send you any more group invites, send, receive, or request money with you, nor exchange SpotMe® boosts with you. They also won’t appear on your Recent Friends list, and they won’t be notified that they’ve been blocked. However, they may still appear in search results.
