What’s MyPay™?

Overview

MyPay™ is a new way to get paid between paydays. Chime uses your direct deposit amount, history, and other factors to determine how much you can access with MyPay. During each pay period, you can see your credit limit and the “Available now” amount that you can access that day. Eligible members can access between $20 and $5001 each pay period. Money available to you can be accessed right from the Chime app. With MyPay you have two choices when getting an advance. Scheduled advances are free, and may take up to two days for the funds to be transferred into your account, after requesting an advance. Or you can choose an instant advance for a fee of $2.00 and it will be transferred to your account instantly. Instant advances are optional and do not impact the amount available to you.

 

Frequently asked questions

What are all the eligibility requirements for MyPay?

To be eligible for a MyPay line of credit, you must meet all of the following requirements:

  1. You are eighteen (18) years of age or older;
  2. You live in an eligible state;
  3. You are a member of Chime Financial, Inc. (“Chime”) with a Chime Checking account (“Chime Checking Account”) in good standing with Bank;
  4. You have activated your physical Chime Visa® Debit Card, or have an open and active physical Chime Credit Builder Visa® Credit Card or Chime Cash Rewards Visa® Credit Card;
  5. You have downloaded the Chime mobile application (“Chime App”) from either the Apple App Store or Google Play Store;
  6. You have received any of the following:
    • two (2) Qualifying MyPay Direct Deposits of $200.00 or more per deposit in the preceding thirty-four (34) days; 
    • one (1) Qualifying MyPay Direct Deposit of $200.00 or more in the preceding thirty-four (34) days and added an Additional Data Source such as your work email or work address during MyPay enrollment; or
    • one (1) Qualifying MyPay Direct Deposit of $200.00 or more in the preceding thirty-four (34) days from a known government benefits payer.

How do I sign up for MyPay?

If you’re eligible, you’ll receive an email and a notification in your Chime app inviting you to enroll in MyPay. Just tap the notification and follow the prompts to enroll.

Does MyPay have any fees or interest? 2

  • There is no interest. 
  • There is no mandatory, annual, or late fee for using MyPay. 
  • There is no credit check. 
  • There is no reporting of payment activity to Credit Bureaus. 
  • There is no cost for MyPay scheduled advances, and money will arrive in your checking account within 2 days, after requesting an advance
  • There is an option to get funds instantly for $2 per advance. 

Will MyPay impact my credit score?

Chime does not perform a credit check when you use MyPay, and the use of MyPay will have no impact on your credit reporting or credit score. 

How does accessing money with MyPay work?

You can get a MyPay advance right from the Chime mobile app, and it will be transferred directly into your Chime Checking account.

To get an advance in app, follow the instructions below: 

  1. Go to MyPay.
  2. Tap Get Money.
  3. Enter the amount of money that you would like to receive, and tap Next.
  4. Tap the option for how fast you want to access it:
    • You can tap the option Instantly for a fee of $2, or
    • You can tap the option Within 2 days to access it for free
  5. Hit Next. 
  6. After reviewing the amount of your advance and your new checking account balance, tap Next.

How much money can I access with MyPay? 

With MyPay, you can access a credit limit between $20 and $500 each pay period.

Why did my “Available now” amount change? 

The amount of your “Available now” is determined based on your direct deposit amount, direct deposit history, and other risk-based criteria. Your “Available now” could increase or decrease based on changes to these above factors. Additionally, if you recently get an advance your “Available now” amount would decrease due to less remaining funds available. 

I used to have access to MyPay, but I don’t anymore. What happened? 

This may be due to a change in your direct deposit or the status of your prior repayment. Additionally, MyPay is currently only available in certain states.  Please contact member services at 1-844-244-6363 for additional assistance.

What is the “MyPay repayment” transaction that was taken out of my checking account?

When you use MyPay, the amount you advanced during the pay period, plus any fees you incurred ($2 per instant advance) is deducted from your Chime Checking account to repay your outstanding MyPay balance when your next direct deposit posts.

The repayment transaction may appear in two types of transactions:

  1. If you choose to use the instant advance option, the first transaction you’ll see will be  labeled “MyPay instant advance fees.” This transaction will include the total amount of instant advance fees you accumulated throughout the pay period. All instant advance fees will be repaid under a single transaction.
  2. The second transaction is labeled “MyPay Repayment” and will include the total amount of your MyPay advances(s). 
    • If you don’t make any instant advances, the “MyPay Repayment” will be your only repayment transaction.
