Is direct deposit the only way to add funds to my account?

Direct deposit is the easiest and most reliable way to deposit funds to your Spending Account, although it is certainly not the only one. We support ACH transfers, cash deposits and mobile check deposit.

Bank Transfer Initiated from Chime:

You can link an external bank account you own to your Chime Spending Account in the Move Money section of the Chime app or by logging into your account online. Under Move Money, go select Transfers and you will then be prompted to enter your other bank’s login credentials. Your external bank account will be instantly linked to your Spending Account.

Once the external account is linked, you can make unlimited transfers from the external account to your Spending Account. Transferred funds will be available within 5 business days.

We support the following banks: Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citi, US Bank, USAA, Fidelity, PNC Bank, Capital One 360, TD Bank, SunTrust, Navy Federal & Charles Schwab. We hope to add others in the near future!

Bank Transfer Initiated from an External Account:

Most banks will allow you to make transfers from their website. If you have an external bank that offers this service, just log in to their website and add Chime by providing your bank routing number and Spending Account number.

Mobile Check Deposit:

Chime will determine if you are eligible for the Mobile Check Deposit feature based on the history of any Chime-branded accounts you have, direct deposit history, direct deposit amounts, and other risk-based factors.

For example, Chime offers mobile check deposit to members who receive payroll direct deposits over $200 a month. Thirty days after you receive your payroll direct deposit, mobile check depositing will be automatically enabled in your Chime app. You may receive access to Mobile Check Deposit based on other risk-based factors.

Cash Deposits at a Retail Location:

You can deposit cash to your Chime Spending Account at over 90,000 retail locations (like Walmart, Walgreens, and 7-Eleven). Simply ask the cashier to make a deposit to your Chime account at the register. You can make up to 3 deposits every 24 hours. You can deposit a maximum of $1,000.00 every 24 hours and up to $10,000.00 every month.

Third-party money transfer services that are used to add funds to your Chime Spending Account may impose their own fees or limits such as:

  • Fees per transaction
  • Daily, weekly, or monthly limits on the frequency or the amount of cash you may add to the Chime Spending Account

Here are some of the many retailers that accept cash deposits:

  • Walmart
  • 7-Eleven
  • Walgreens
  • Duane Reade
  • Speedway
  • Dollar General
  • Family Dollar
  • CVS
  • Rite Aid
  • Pilot Travel Centers (Pilot Flying J)
  • Holiday Station Stores
  • Circle K Stores
  • GPM Investments
  • Sheetz Incorp
  • TA Operating LLC (Travel Centers of America)
  • Royal Farms
  • Cumberland Farms Corp
  • Kwik Trip Inc
  • Krause Gentle (Kum & Go)

When you deposit cash to your Chime Spending Account, it is transferred by a third party to your account. Your funds will be FDIC insured once the bank holding your account receives the funds from the third party.
