What Automatic Savings features does Chime offer?

What is Automatic Savings?

Our Automatic Savings features are designed to make saving easier by helping you save money without thinking about it. Chime offers two different Automatic Savings features: Save When I Get Paid and Round Ups.

Save When I Get Paid

When you enable the Save When I Get Paid feature, we’ll automatically transfer 10% of your incoming bank transfers or direct deposits over $500 to your Savings Account.

Round Ups

Round ups are now available on both the Chime Visa® Debit Card and Chime Credit Builder Secured Visa® Credit card.

When you enable the Round Ups feature, each time you use your Debit Card or Credit Builder Card to make a purchase, we round up the transaction amount to the nearest dollar. The round up amount then gets automatically transferred to your Savings Account from your Checking Account when using your Debit Card or Secured Deposit Account when using your Credit Builder Card. The round up will only be transferred if there are enough funds available in the account to round the transaction up to the nearest dollar.

For example: If you make a purchase for $10.27 using your Debit Card, the total amount charged to your Checking Account would be $11, and the round-up amount of $0.73 will be automatically transferred to your Savings Account when the transaction settles.

However, if you make a purchase of $10.27 using your debit card, but your Checking account balance is only $10.75, the round up wouldn’t be made since there isn’t enough funds to round the transaction to the nearest dollar.
