What is Credit Builder and how can I enroll?

The secured Chime Credit Builder Visa® Credit Card can help you build credit history when you make on-time payments. It has no interest*, no annual fees, and doesn’t need a credit check to apply.

Am I eligible for Credit Builder?

To be eligible, you must have a Chime Checking Account and receive a single qualifying direct deposit of $200 or more. This direct deposit must come from your employer, payroll provider, gig economy payer, or benefits payer as an Automated Clearing House (ACH) deposit or Original Credit Transaction (OCT).

How do I apply for Credit Builder?

After receiving a qualifying direct deposit, you can enroll in Credit Builder in your Chime app:

      1. Go to Settings.
      2. Tap Try Credit Builder.
      3. Follow the steps to enroll.

Once you’re approved, you’ll receive your card in the mail within 7 to 10 business days.

How do I use my Credit Builder card?

The first step is to move money into your Credit Builder secured account. To do that, tap the button on the home screen that says Move money to Credit Builder. You can also follow these steps:

      1. On the home screen, tap Move Money.
      2. Tap Transfer funds.
      3. Enter an amount to transfer from your Chime Checking Account.

The amount you have in your Credit Builder secured account equals the amount you can spend on your Credit Builder card.

*Out of network ATM withdrawal fees may apply. See here for details.
