Supplemental Security Income (SSI) payments are made on the 1st of each month. If you began receiving Social Security Administration (SSA) payments before May 1997 or receive both SSA and SSI, your SSA is paid on the 3rd and SSI on the 1st.
Social Security benefit timing depends on several factors, including your birthday and the type of benefits you receive. Refer to the calendar below to see when payments are typically made each month.
If your scheduled payment date falls on a weekend or federal holiday, you may receive your benefits early. Check out our federal and banking holiday schedule to track all the dates that might prompt early benefits payments. For official payment schedules, visit the Schedule of Social Security Benefit Payments.
Chime can’t guarantee the timing of government benefit payments. Chime makes direct deposit funds available as soon as we receive the payment file from the benefits provider. This can sometimes be earlier than the scheduled payment date, but not always. The timing of your benefits payment could be impacted by government payment delays which are not common but may occur occasionally due to government processing schedules, holidays, or internal delays at SSA or the VA. If you’ve enabled notifications, you’ll receive an email or push notification as soon as your deposit is available. If your benefits don’t arrive by the expected date, it’s a good idea to wait three business days before contacting the SSA or VA.
Note: Some members may receive government benefits up to two days early* with direct deposit, but that’s not a guarantee. These dates are estimates based on the dates published here. SSI, VA, and SSDI payments are scheduled by the government, so we can't control when these deposits arrive.
