Where's my direct deposit?

When a direct deposit is initiated by your employer or benefits provider, we do not receive the funds instantly, it goes through several steps of processing before arriving at Chime. We do not have insight into the processing status and can only let you know when it’s deposited into your account. Direct deposits are posted to your account as soon as we receive the funds.

If you haven’t received your direct deposit, it means we haven’t received it yet. When your direct deposit arrives, you’ll receive a push notification and an email to let you know. If your expected direct deposit isn’t in your account yet, you can contact your employer or benefits provider to confirm the time and date it was sent.

When can I expect a direct deposit from Social Security?

Your Social Security Administration (SSA) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits follow an official payment schedule. SSA payments are made based on your birthday, while SSI payments are made every 1st day of the month. If you received Social Security before May 1997, or are receiving both Social Security and SSI, Social Security is paid on the 3rd day and SSI on the 1st day of the month.

Note: If a scheduled payment date falls on a weekend or public holiday, benefits are paid the business day before your due date. For more information on Social Security benefits, you can read this article: When do I get paid for my Social Security benefits?

Frequently asked questions

My direct deposit stopped arriving. What should I do?

Sometimes direct deposits can fail due to technical or other issues. If you were expecting a direct deposit but it didn't arrive, contact your employer or benefits provider and make sure they have the correct routing and account numbers for your Chime Checking Account. You can find these in the Chime mobile app by going to Settings > Account Information.

Note: The name on the direct deposit must match the name on the Chime Checking Account. If the names don’t match, the deposit will be returned.

How do bank holidays affect direct deposits?

Chime observes all U.S. federal and bank holidays. On these days, banks are unable to process deposits which may delay direct deposits until the next business day. To learn more, visit How does Chime handle federal and bank holidays?

Why didn’t I receive a push notification?

Make sure you’ve enabled transaction notifications in the Chime mobile app, as well as allowed notifications through your mobile device settings.
