Chime never holds direct deposits. We will always post your funds as soon as we receive them from your employer or your benefits provider. The timing of your deposit depends on when the sender initiates the payment to your Chime account. Deposits post Monday-to-Friday throughout the day. If you do not see your direct deposit in your account, it means that we haven't received it yet.
As soon as your direct deposit arrives you will receive a push notification and an email to let you know!
How does direct deposit work?
We always process and post a deposit as soon as we receive it. If you have enabled transaction notifications in the Chime mobile app, we'll notify you immediately the moment your funds reach your account.
If your expected direct deposit isn’t in your account yet, you can contact your employer (or provider) to confirm the time and date that it was sent. When a direct deposit is initiated by your employer or benefits provider, we do not receive the direct deposit instantly. It goes through several steps of processing before arriving at Chime. These steps are mandatory, and Chime does not have insight to where your direct deposit may be in this process until it arrives at Chime and we post it to your account.
My direct deposit stopped arriving. What should I do?
Rarely, direct deposits can fail due to technical issues. If you were expecting a direct deposit but it didn't arrive, contact your employer or payroll provider and make sure they have the correct routing and account numbers for your Chime Checking Account. You can find these in the Chime app by going to Settings > Account Information.
How do bank holidays affect direct deposits?
Chime observes all federal and bank holidays. On these days, banks are unable to process deposits, which may delay the arrival of a direct deposit until the next day. In the 2022 calendar year, Chime observes the following holidays:
