To see your expected direct deposit arrival time, tap the Direct Deposit History or Direct Deposit, Estimated Date icon on the app’s home page. Once Chime receives your direct deposit from your employer, payroll provider, or benefits provider, you'll get a push notification and email, provided these alerts are enabled in your app settings.
Delays can happen due to factors beyond Chime's control, such as bank holidays or timing from your payer. If delays persist, contact your payer to confirm the direct deposit details.

First-time direct deposits with Chime
If you're new to recurring direct deposits, your deposit can take up to two pay cycles to switch to your Chime account. Once switched, your direct deposit will arrive up to two days early. Notify your employer, payroll provider, or benefits provider before the next pay period begins if you switch your direct deposit to Chime. If you miss that date, you'll likely have to wait until the following pay period for your direct deposit. Double-check that your account and routing numbers in the app match those given to your payer. To learn more, read How do I find my Chime account number and routing number?
Timing of direct deposits with Chime
Deposits may not always arrive early. Timing depends on when Chime receives payment files from your payer. Here’s how direct deposit works:
- Before payday, your employer sends a payroll file to its bank with employees’ bank account details and paycheck amounts.
- An ACH operator reviews the payroll file for accuracy and ensures all payments are properly routed.
- The ACH sends your payment file to one of Chime’s bank partners to be processed.
- Once Chime receives your payment information, your payment is credited to your account.
