Will a U.S. government shutdown affect my Chime account or my government benefits?

  • A government shutdown should not affect the timing or payment of most federal benefits, such as Social Security.

  • If you’re a federal employee or contractor, Chime makes your direct deposit available as soon as we receive the payment file from your payroll provider.

  • A delay or change in qualifying direct deposit can affect direct-deposit-based features. Access to Instant Loans, MyPay, and other direct-deposit-based features could be impacted if qualifying direct deposits stop.

Important: Chime does not control when your payer sends the deposit file. Your direct deposit is made available as soon as we receive it.
