Does Chime sell or share my personal information?

Chime does not sell your personal information for money. However, we may share limited data with third-party services for advertising or analytics, as defined by the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA).

What does “sell” or “share” mean?

Under the CCPA, “sell” or “share” has a broad definition.

Chime uses tracking technologies (like cookies or device identifiers) in the app and on our website to:

  • Support analytics

  • Improve your experience

  • Personalize marketing

In some cases, sharing this type of data with third-party providers in exchange for their services may be considered a “sale” or “share” under the CCPA—even if no money is exchanged.

What information is shared?

Chime does not sell sensitive personal information like:

  • Your name

  • Address

  • Account numbers

  • Social Security number

Instead, the data that may be shared includes:

  • Advertising IDs

  • Cookie IDs

  • Hashed email addresses

This information is used for advertising and analytics purposes and does not directly identify you by name.

How to opt out of sharing

You can opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of your personal information at any time.

In the Chime app or Chime.com

  1. Go to Profile.

  2. Tap Privacy.

  3. Turn on Do not sell or share my personal information.

What happens when you opt out

  • Your preference is saved to your profile when you’re logged in

  • If you opt out while not logged in, it only applies to that browser session

  • Certain advertising and analytics trackers will be disabled
