How do I update or correct my name on my Chime account?

You can update your legal or preferred name directly in the Chime app, under Personal info. Be sure to have a valid, government-issued photo ID, such as a driver’s license or passport, ready if verification is required.

Update your preferred name

You can update your preferred name in the Chime app, which doesn’t change the legal name on your account.

To update your preferred name:
  1. Go to Profile.
  2. Tap Personal info.
  3. Tap the pencil icon next to your name.
  4. Tap the pencil icon next to Preferred name, enter your preferred name, and tap Save.

Update your legal name

You can update your legal name in the Chime app, which will officially change the legal name on your Chime account. You may only do this if you have legally updated your name.

The following name updates require contacting us:

  • Legal name changes (e.g., after marriage or divorce): We'll update your name and send you a new card.
  • Fixing a typo in your legal name: We can correct spelling errors or other mistakes.
  • Adding or removing a suffix (e.g., Jr., Sr.): We can update your legal name if needed.

Chime doesn’t allow members to add or modify a middle name on their account.

If you need help with any of these updates, refer to the following Help Center article: How do I contact Chime customer service?
